PE is found in a multitude of qualities; primarily we distinguish between Low Density and High Density types of PE. LDPE density approx. 0,92 g/cm³. HDPE density approx. 0,96 g/cm³. LDPE is soft, while HDPE is hard and rigid. PE is a cheap material with good chemical resistance, but it is sensitive to UV-radiation especially when not inked. Because of its good chemical resistance it is practically impossible to glue PE-materials. PE is normally used for leg inserts, ferrules, spacers, fittings, packings, and disposables Maximum use temperature, unstressed: LDPE approx. 50º C and HPDE approx. 70º C.
