TPE can be processed like thermoplastic, but it has rubber-like properties. The material consists of PP with a dispersion of partly vulcanized EPDM. The amount of EPDM determines the hardness of the material. The material is available in hardnesses from Shore 50A to Shore 50D. Fine chemical resistance due to the PP content, but therefore also difficult to glue. Typically used to fulfil a need for rubber properties on products that are economically manufactured by injection moulding.
Density approx. 0,9 - 1 g/cm³
Maximum use temperature, unstressed 60º C. Certain types however up to 100º C.
